🚨🏈 CFL Week 4 best bets
Also, an MLB play for June 26
Good morning, folks!
We’ve nearly arrived at the halfway point in the MLB season, and we’re already a month into the CFL campaign.
We’re doing well in both leagues: After a clean 3-0 sweep on Wednesday, Bryce has us up to 48-25 (+10.84 units) on the season.
We hope to stay hot on Thursday with our lone play: Tampa Bay Rays (@ Kansas City) F5 -0.0 × 1 unit
As for the CFL, we’re up to 2-0-1 (+1.8 units) after another no-sweat winner in Week 3.
Our best bet in Week 4: Hamilton Tiger-Cats (vs. Montreal Alouettes) +3.0 × 1 unit
This game will be played on Friday, June 27 (6:30 p.m. CT)
On paper, we might look crazy for siding with the home dogs here. Hamilton is 0-2 out of the gates, while Montreal looks like one of the two best teams in the country at 3-0.
The problem for Montreal this week is that their young, fearless leader, quarterback Davis Alexander, is unlikely to play after suffering a hamstring injury in last week’s contest.
Alexander hasn’t practised all week, and while the ‘Als haven’t ruled him out yet, he feels like a long shot to play. Even if he does play, his mobility — which he relies on greatly — will be extremely limited.
Enter 36-year-old McLeod Bethel-Thompson, a two-time Grey Cup champion. While MBT is probably one of the better backups in the league, he’s also a drop-off from Alexander, who was easily playing the best of any pivot before his injury.
We’re siding with the Ti-Cats, who are coming off a bye and simply can’t afford to lose a third-straight game, especially at home.
Scoring has not been a problem for Hamilton. It’s been preventing points that has hindered them. They’ll get a bit of a break with Alexander and running back Sean Thomas Erlington sidelined for this one.
Good luck! 🍀
