🚨🏈 CFL Week 9 best bets

Afternoon folks,

We got back into the win column last week with a late cover by the Edmonton Elks to bring our yearly total to 5-2-1 (+3.4 units).

The league is a mess right now, with the number of quarterbacks dealing with injuries, so we’re going to avoid the sides and totals this week and go with a prop instead.

Our best bet for Week 9: Winnipeg Blue Bombers RB Brady Olivieira (vs. Toronto Argonauts) over 84.5 rush yards x 1 unit

This game will be played on Friday, August 1, @ 7:30 p.m.

The Bombers have been a mess in July: three straight losses, all by at least two touchdowns.

The most perplexing part of this streak has been the unwillingness to lean on their Oliveira, their bellcow and the league’s reigning Most Outstanding Player.

That changes this week in a rematch with the Argos.

Oliveira has been incredibly efficient with his opportunities this season. He’s averaging 6.0 yards per carry and 11.8 yards per catch. Last week in Toronto was no different, as he amassed 82 rushing yards on 13 carries before being washed out of the game plan due to an unfavourable game script.

There are enough changes on Winnipeg’s side of the ball to feel confident in this play.

The defence, which has let games get out of hand early on, has shuffled around its secondary looking for a spark. This game should be closer, which favours Oliveira because the Bombers want to run the ball.

On offence, backup quarterback Chris Streveler is getting the start. It is in Winnipeg’s best interest not to have Streveler throw the ball more than he needs to, which should mean more opportunities for Oliveira.

The game plan for the Bombers should be to play good defence and milk the clock.

As long as this game stays close — which it should in this situation — Oliveira should see enough carries to crush this number.
