🚨🏈 CFL Week 6 best bets

As for the CFL, we kept the undefeated streak alive last week with another no-sweat winner to bring our yearly record to 4-0-1 (+4.5 units).

Let’s keep this thing rolling!

Our best bet in Week 6: Ottawa Redblacks (@ Hamilton Tiger-Cats) Team Total over 23.5 × 1 unit

This game will be played on Saturday, July 12 @ 6 p.m. CT

This is the first of a home-and-home between these provincial foes.

The Redblacks (1-4) aren’t quite in desperation mode, but they certainly feel close after allowing the Edmonton Elks to earn their first win of the season last week.

Things don’t get easier as they face the Ti-Cats, winners of two in a row and the hottest offence in the CFL.

This bet comes down to a couple of things for us:

I) For as good as Hamilton has looked the last two weeks — they’ve put up 86 points — we can’t help but note who they’ve played during this stretch. They had their way against a Montreal squad led by backup quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson, then went nuclear on a hobbling Toronto team led by another backup pivot in Nick Arbuckle.

That is to say, this is a significant step up in class for Hamilton’s defence after two weeks of facing subpar QB play (which, btw, they still conceded 55 points).

Redblacks QB Dru Brown returned from injury last week, and while he didn’t quite look as sharp as he has before (he’s definitely not 100%), he’s leaps and bounds better than the last two signal-callers the TiCats have faced.

The Redblacks love to sling the rock, and with Brown set to play his second game post-injury, we should see a more potent offence once again.

II) Fun fact for you: the last time the Redblacks scored less than 24 points in a game that Brown completed was Week 13 of 2024.

I don’t see that streak being snapped this week, owing in large part to their opponent. We mentioned there’s no hotter offence in the league right now than the TiCats. No one throws it more than the Tabbies, and the Redblacks’ defence has been incredibly underwhelming this season.

Simply put: barring an unforeseen circumstance, the Redblacks’ offence is going to be forced to keep up with Hamilton.

That bodes quite well for our bet.

Saturday has all the makings of a shootout. We have two strong offences and two below-average defences.

Let’s just hope Ottawa can account for a sizeable chunk of that final total.
