🚨🏈 CFL Week 5 best bets

Morning, folks.

We hope everyone had an enjoyable Canada Day long weekend, and those south of the border have a great week leading into Independence Day weekend.

We’re back with another play in the Canadian Football League, where we currently hold a 3-0-1 (+2.7 units) record.

Let’s continue our strong start to the season.

Our best bet in Week 5: Hamilton Tiger-Cats (@ Toronto Argonauts) +1.0 × 1 unit

This game will be played on Friday, July 4 @ 6:30 p.m. CT

Neither of these teams has impressed through the first month of the season, but the difference is that the TiCats have a roster capable of turning it around in a hurry.

Injuries play a big part in this one, so let’s start there.

The Argonauts will start backup quarterback Nick Arbuckle for the fifth game in a row, while Chad Kelly continues to rehab the broken fibula he suffered in last year’s playoffs. Arbuckle has been awful, simple as that.

Also the Argos are down their starting center and top two running backs on offence, and their top two interior defensive linemen and all-CFL linebacker. This team is hobbling, and it doesn’t have a quarterback capable of pulling them out of this hole.

Meanwhile, Hamilton is getting healthy. Running back Greg Bell is expected to return to action, while defensive backs Reggie Stubblefield and Robert Panabaker should bolster a secondary that has struggled early this season.

The other part of the equation is Toronto’s recent stretch of opponents. Their last two games have been against an injury-riddled Saskatchewan Roughriders team and an Ottawa Redblacks squad without its starting quarterback. This will be a step up in class against a Hamilton roster that put together a strong second half against a good Montreal team.

This battle in Ontario has been a good one in recent years. Each of the last three games has been decided by three points, with Hamilton triumphing each time. The difference is that the Argos have had their starting QB play in each of those contests, and now the sputtering Toronto offence will need to find a way to match a TiCats offence that can pop at any time.
