🚨🏈 CFL Week 1 best bet
Folks,
We’ve added the Canadian Football League to our repertoire.
We don’t expect a significant amount of volume to come from the three-down loop, but we should have at least one bet each week to keep our palettes wet until the NFL returns.
With that, our Week 1 best bet:
Toronto Argonauts @ Montreal Alouettes: under 47.5 × 1 unit
This game takes place on Friday @ 6:30 CT.
We have a precarious QB battle brewing in this one. For the Argos, it’s backup Nick Arbuckle getting the start in place of Chad Kelly, who continues to rehab the fractured leg injury he suffered in last season’s East Division Final.
Yes, Arbuckle led Toronto to the Grey Cup the following week, winning Most Outstanding Player in the process, but we’re talking about a career journeyman here.
Meanwhile, the Als will start 26-year-old Davis Alexander, who has been handed the reins entering his fourth year. Alexander has impressed in limited action and boasts a 4-0 record as a starter, which gave Montreal the confidence to label him as the face of the franchise effectively.
Still, this is new territory for the young signal-caller. He’s never been a Week 1 starter, and he’s facing the defending Grey Cup champions.
It’s a big spot to start your tenure as the franchise QB.
Defensively, Montreal returns most of the players from the No. 2 overall unit last season. Toronto, though it lost several big-time players from last year’s defence, has a coaching staff that has a knack for getting the best out of everyone on that unit.
One final injury that works in our favour here: Janarion Grant, the league’s best returner, will also be out with an ankle injury.
Good luck 🍀 , and we hope you’re tailing all season.
